Before approving a wholesale sheer dress sample, confirm the measured length, the starting point of each slit, the lining or transparency, and the exact pieces supplied in one selling unit. Mini, midi and maxi describe a silhouette; they do not replace measurements. A photograph also cannot establish whether a lining, separate slip or matching panty is included.
This guide applies those checks to three styles in our wholesale sexy dresses collection. It is a buying worksheet, not a report of laboratory testing or a promise that every requested alteration is available. Use it to turn a visual reference into questions that can be answered before a sample or production quotation is approved.
1. Define where the dress length starts and ends
Ask for the finished garment length in your selected sample size, together with a photograph showing the measuring points. For a halter dress, a measurement starting at the neckline is not interchangeable with one starting at the shoulder. For an adjustable-strap style, record the strap setting used. For a separate skirt, measure from the agreed waistband point rather than treating it as a one-piece dress.
Write down whether the garment was laid flat and relaxed or measured under another agreed condition. Keep body measurements separate from garment measurements. If the photograph includes a model, use the model’s height and worn size only when those details have actually been supplied. Do not estimate centimeters from an image.
Your acceptance record should identify the target measurement and a tolerance agreed with the supplier. There is no universal length tolerance supplied for these three references. If different sizes are planned, ask how length changes across the size range instead of assuming that only bust and hip measurements change.
2. Mark slit and opening positions, not just overall length
A floor-length hem does not mean the same coverage as a closed skirt. For each side slit, record the distance from an agreed reference point to the slit opening and identify which side is shown. Request front, back and side views of the actual sample. Note any asymmetry rather than comparing only the longest edge.
During sample review, check the appearance while standing, sitting and taking a normal step. Record where the opening moves and whether that meets your intended product presentation. These are proposed buyer checks, not claims that a listed style has already passed them. Any request to lower a slit, close an opening or change the pattern needs a separate feasibility confirmation.
3. Separate fabric appearance from lining and composition
Sheer knit, lace and a lined garment can look different under studio lighting and in ordinary indoor light. Ask for a close-up of the outer material and an inside view of the sample. Confirm which panels, if any, are lined, whether the lining is attached, and whether a separate layering piece is supplied or only used for styling.
Request the actual material and composition information needed for your market. The product listings below use supplier-provided material descriptions; they do not provide verified fiber percentages. Lace describes a fabric structure and does not, by itself, specify fiber composition. Avoid converting a visual impression into a care-label statement.
4. Apply different questions to the three real references
Corset-inspired mini look: PDD-1008047118126
The Wholesale Lace Corset Mini Dress is described as a corset-inspired bodice with a sheer short skirt and a two-piece look. Ask whether the quoted selling unit contains separate pieces, then list each one. Record bodice and skirt measurements separately when applicable. The word corset-inspired does not establish steel boning, waist reduction or support performance.
Halter midi: PDD-1007509858419
The Wholesale Halter Cutout Lace Midi Dress has a halter neckline, an open back and patterned sheer knit. Focus the sample questions on the neckline-to-hem measuring route, the back opening and the supplier’s size chart. Cotton is supplier-listed, but its percentage is not confirmed here. Photographed colors should be checked against the current quotation rather than treated as an inventory statement.
High-slit maxi: PDD-970550137119
The Wholesale High-Slit Lace Sheer Maxi Dress is described with a floor-length sheer skirt, high side slits, a floral lace bodice and adjustable shoulder straps. Record the strap setting and both slit positions. A matching panty appears in supplier photography; that is not confirmation that it is included. Ask for the packing contents in writing before describing the item as a set.
5. Keep one approval record per SKU, size and revision
Use the following blank record alongside your sample photographs. Leave an unanswered field marked “awaiting confirmation”; do not fill it with an assumed standard.
- Reference: SKU, requested color, sample size and image date.
- Length: measuring points, garment condition, strap setting and measured value.
- Openings: each slit position, back opening and required views.
- Coverage: sheer areas, lined panels and separate layering pieces.
- Contents: every piece included per selling unit, plus items shown for styling only.
- Decision: buyer requirement, supplier answer, agreed tolerance, revision and approval date.
Approve or request a revision against that specific record. A later change to lining, length or packing can affect the product being quoted, so ask for the affected specification and quotation to be reconfirmed. Keep the earlier version for comparison. Our wholesale quality-control overview explains how these style-specific notes fit into broader construction, finishing and packing checks.
Send a focused sample inquiry
To request a wholesale quote, send the selected SKU, estimated quantity, destination market, proposed size and color split, and the open questions from your record. Identify which requirements are essential and which are preferences. Ask for sample arrangements and any OEM, ODM or private-label changes to be confirmed for that exact project. A clear sample brief makes comparisons more useful than choosing by a mini, midi or maxi label alone.
